Citizens' Summer Academy 30 June - 26 July 2008 Citizens' Theatre |
1, 2 and 4 week long drama courses for children and young people aged 6-18 years.
Meet new friends, learn drama skills and work with professional drama tutors in one of the UK's most prestigious theatres.
6-8 YEARS
Two (1 week) courses

Children aged 6-8 years can choose from two (1 week) courses, held in the bright and colourful Stalls Studio. 15 places available on each course.
The course will include role-play activities, storytelling and character work. Plus find out what it's like to be an actor in the theatre. There will be a short performance for families and friends on the last day.
9 - 12 YEARS
Two (2 week) courses
Mon 30 June - Sat 12 July or Mon 14 - Sat 26 July
9am-3pm, Mon-Fri (performance on final Sat)

Children aged 9-12 years can choose from two (2 week) courses in the theatre, held in the popular Circle Studio. 20 places available on each course.
The focus for this age group is to develop drama and performance skills through group work, voice tuition, movement and character work. The young people will devise their own performance piece which will be shown to an invited audience of family and friends on the last day.
13-18 YEARS
One (4 week) course
Mon 30 June - Sat 26 July
10am - 4pm, Mon-Fri (performance on final Sat)

Young people aged 13-18 years can attend a 4 week course in the theatre. The participants will perform in the Main Auditorium in two public performances at the end of the course. 40 places available through an audition process (20 places for 13-15 year olds and 20 places for 16-18 year olds).
Professional drama tutors will work with the young people, who will rehearse and perform in this world famous theatre which has seen the likes of Gary Oldman, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Baxendale and Sean Bean treading the boards!

6-8 YEARS Each course (1 week) £80 (£60 conc)
9-12 YEARS Each course (2 weeks) £160 (£120 conc)

No application required. A deposit is required at time of booking (6-8s £30 and 9-12s £50).
13-18 YEARS One (4 week) course £350 (£250 conc)
APPLY NOW: Young people aged 13-18 years will be required to apply for a place on this prestigious 4 week course. All applicants will be invited to meet the course staff for a FREE selection workshop at the Citizens' Theatre. Successful applicants will be offered a place on the course, at which time a deposit (£50) will be required to secure the place. Notes
All courses will have a minimum of 2 professionally trained drama tutors providing high quality tuition. Final performances are free of charge for parents/guardians.
