Co-production with Citizens Community Company and Citizens YOUNG Co. "the play becomes both a lament for the corrupted innocence of its doomed youth and a wake-up call for future generations." The Herald 4 stars **** ![]() ![]() "Glasgow, 1982 and heroin has set the schemes on fire. Walk into the fire and you'll get burned, until you become it and it becomes you... ashes to ashes...dust to dust. A summer of snow; brown sugary-looking snow, it keeps winking at me saying, 'Don't You Want Me Baby?' Elton John says 'I'm Still Standing.' Well, I'm not. I'm falling, further and further, deeper and deeper. 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?' Boy George knows how it feels, he must know..." THE ICE CREAM WARS ARE RAGING...A FAMILY IS FALLING APART. Written by well-known Scottish writer and stage, film and tv actor, Martin McCardie (Tinsel Town, Damaged Goods, Taggart & Don't Shoot the Goalie) this brand new commissioned play was set at the time of the ice cream wars in Glasgow. A hard-hitting tale of drug misuse and family love, this production was a pioneering collaboration between professional TAG actors and members of the Citizens' Community Company and YOUNG Co. This project was made possible by the East Pollokshields and Southside Central Community Planning Partnership through the South East Community Regeneration Funded Initiative: Tackling Drugs Misuse. New company members also came through Turning Point Scotland. CITIZENS' THEATRE Wed 28 - Sat 31 March 2007 RECOMMENDED for those aged 14+ ![]() ![]() "the lighting is ravishing, the wailing rock score almost operatic in its impact; and the community company produce a series of wonderfully clear and hard-edged performances, fully matching the show's two professional actors in the effort to create what emerges as a memorable show about addiction itself, of all kinds."
