Yellow Moon (The Ballad of Leila and Lee)
2006, 2007, 2008

Best Show for Children and Young People (TMA 2007)

TOURING 23 April - 24 June 2008

ABOUT THE PLAY

When Yellow Moon premiered at the Citizens' Theatre,
Glasgow in 2006 and retoured in 2007, it received both critical acclaim and an overwhelming response from its audiences.

Written for TAG, Yellow Moon is a searing new play from one of
Scotland's finest playwrights, David Greig. A modern Bonnie and Clyde tale that follows the fortunes of two teenagers on the run.

Silent Leila is an introverted girl who has a passion for celebrity magazines. Stag Lee Macalinden is the deadest of dead end kids in a dead end town. They never meant to get mixed up in a murder...but now they need a place to hide. Yellow Moon explores what it means to live in a celebrity-obsessed world and what it is that defines who you are when you're 17 years old.

This production is recommended for those aged 15 yrs +

THE CONTENT

Yellow Moon was written to be performed with no set and no props. This striking play strips back the layers of theatre to reveal a remarkable piece of storytelling and the power of great performances.

The play contains swearing and some challenging content, which provides an excellent stimulus for class discussion - not only about the theatrical process, but also regarding issues arising from the narrative of the play (including, amongst others: self harm, family break-ups, runaways, the cult of the celebrity in our society and suicide).
